Camaret, Morgat and the ports of the peninsula
The Crozon peninsula is also its ports, full of character. Just minutes from the house, Camaret-sur-Mer and Morgat tell the story of Breton seafarers, between heritage, sea caves and fine seafood tables.
Camaret-sur-Mer, a fishing port steeped in history
Camaret-sur-Mer, at the north-western tip of the peninsula, was once one of France's great spiny-lobster ports. Here you stroll along the Sillon, the shingle spit that shelters the harbour, among sailing boats and old fishing vessels.
- The Tour Vauban, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a stone sentinel guarding the entrance to the port.
- The Notre-Dame-de-Rocamadour chapel, right at the end of the Sillon.
- The boat cemetery, the beached hulks of old sailing ships, a poetic and melancholy sight.
From Camaret, it is easy to reach the Pointe de Pen-Hir and the megalithic alignments of Lagatjar.
Morgat, the seaside resort
On the southern side, Morgat unrolls its sheltered sandy beach, its marina and its elegant Belle Époque villas nestled in the pine woods. The atmosphere is gentle and family-friendly, perfect for a quiet swim or an ice cream by the water.
Morgat's great must-see is its sea caves: in season, boat trips take you along the cliffs and into these cavities with their surprising colours, which can also be reached by sea kayak.
Crozon, markets and flavours
At the heart of the peninsula, the town of Crozon gathers shops and markets. On the stalls you'll find local produce: fish and shellfish, crêpes and galettes, cider and kouign-amann. The ports and villages also brim with seafood restaurants and crêperies.
