Kersiguenou beach, just a few steps from the house

Picture this: a few minutes' walk from Ty Ar Mor, and the sand of Kersiguenou beach opens before you, facing the vastness of the Atlantic. It's one of the great privileges of the house — living to the rhythm of the tides, steps from one of the most beautiful wild beaches on the Crozon peninsula.

A wild sandy beach facing the ocean

Kersiguenou beach is a large stretch of fine sand nestled on the west coast of the Crozon peninsula, within the Armorique Regional Nature Park. Facing due west, open to the bay of Douarnenez and the ocean, it offers that quintessentially Breton blend of dunes, gorse-covered heathland and cliffs plunging into clear water.

Here there is no concrete, no seafront promenade: Kersiguenou has kept its unspoilt character. At low tide the beach stretches out wide, inviting long barefoot walks; at high tide the waves lap at the foot of the dunes.

On foot from Ty Ar Mor

From the house you reach the beach on foot in just a few minutes, without taking the car. Perfect for a late-afternoon swim, an after-dinner sunset, or building a sandcastle with the children first thing in the morning. The GR34 coastal path runs just above the beach and lets you extend the walk along the coast.

Swimming, surfing and beach games

Kersiguenou is popular with surfers for its Atlantic waves: it's a fine surf and bodyboard spot. The beach is also ideal for swimming, bat-and-ball games, kite-flying or simply reading in the sun.

As everywhere along the west coast of Crozon, the ocean is powerful: watch the currents and tide times, swim preferably on a rising tide, and keep an eye on children. In high season, check the supervised zones and times.

The sunsets of Kersiguenou

It may be the finest memory you'll take home from a stay here: the sun sinking into the ocean, setting the sky ablaze above the headland. Facing west, Kersiguenou is one of the best places on the peninsula to watch the sunset, glass in hand, on the way back from the beach.
